Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze has slammed Cameroon coach Rigobert Song over his decision to drop goalkeeper Andre Onana from his squad at the World Cup.
Onana is currently making headlines after being booted out of the Cameroonian squad, and he has also left the team's camp in Qatar due to a reported fallout with Song.
On Monday, November 28, when Cameroon faced Serbia in their second group game in Qatar, Onana was not in the squad as the Indomitable Lions settled for a 3-3 draw.
What actually happened?
There are reports that Onana went against the instruction given to him by Song, and that infuriated the Cameroon coach, who then decided to choose Devis Epassy for the game against Serbia.
According to the report on GOAL, Udeze who was in the Super Eagles squad for the 2002 World Cup, stated clearly that Song has made a big mistake.
Statement made by Udeze
“I believe there must have been an issue between Onana and the coach. Rigobert Song.
“Song should have managed the situation. After the tournament, you may wish not to invite the player as the coach if you remain there or even as the FA President but not during the tournament.
“Cameroon had the chance to score, but they gave away this game. You can’t throw your best players out. The worst case scenario, you substitute the player. This is a tournament proper."
