In a September international friendly, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play the former European champions Portugal.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has moved the doubleheader from September 2023 against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau to March 2023, where the three-time African champions were originally scheduled to play.
After the qualifiers were postponed, the NFF wants to make use of the FIFA window to keep the Super Eagles occupied.
The organization of the friendly is being handled by Jose Peseiro, head coach of the Super Eagles.
On the date and location of the friendly, an official announcement is anticipated from the Portugal Football Federation (PFF) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Nigeria and Portugal will be meeting for the first time at the senior level.
At the U-20 level, the two nations have faced off three times, with Portugal coming out on top each time.
