Chiamaka Nnadozie has made history as the first African, specifically Nigerian, to clinch the prestigious National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) award for the top goalkeeper in the French women’s league.
Nnadozie's outstanding performances for Paris FC throughout the 2023/24 season earned her this esteemed recognition. She triumphed over a formidable lineup of contenders, including Christiane Endler from Olympic Lyon, Katarzyna Kiedrzynek of Paris SG, Chloe N’Gazi from FC Fleury, and Kinga Szemik of Stade de Reims, to secure this individual honor.
At just 23 years old, the Nigerian international also recently secured the title of the best goalkeeper in the French D1 Arkema (women’s league).
Nnadozie’s remarkable ability to save penalties has been a key factor in solidifying her reputation as one of the world's premier goalkeepers. Throughout the season, she thwarted an impressive seven penalty kicks, marking the highest tally by any goalkeeper in Europe.
