Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu is on the verge of linking up with Ligue 1 club Metz on a season-long loan deal.
According to the French news outlet L'Equipe, Southampton has agreed to allow the gangling striker to join Metz for the 2023–24 season.
Onuachu joined Southampton from Belgian Pro League outfit KRC Genk in January but failed to help the Smurfs escape relegation.
The 29-year-old will replace Georges Mikautadze, who left for Eredivisie giants Ajax this week.
Onuachu failed to register a goal in 12 appearances for Southampton last season.
Prior to his move to Southampton, he was prolific for Genk, scoring 85 goals in 134 appearances for the Belgian club.
