Video Shows How Incredible Tobi Amusan Dressed to Receive a National Award From President Buhari.
A video clip that captures the moment President Muhammadu Buhari presented Tobi Amusan with a national award has gone viral online.
On September 15, various national prizes were given to each member of Team Nigeria traveling to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The president praised the athletes’ accomplishments at the games and called them victors, deserving ambassadors, and national heroes and heroines.
They received national accolades as Members of the Order of Nigeria (MON), while Tobi Amusan received special recognition as an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
And on October 11, President Buhari presented national honors to 447 individuals, bringing the total number of Nigeria’s recipients of national honors since 1963 to 5,341, according to Vanguard.
However, there was drama during the ceremony as some of the recipients, including music artistes, dressed in all kinds of manners, generating talking points.
Many have blasted some of the recipients for “disrespecting the office of the president of the Federal Republic," while using Tobi Amusan as a case study of how to behave during such a historic moment.
A video shows how Amusan was clad in a simple but elegant outfit as she walked up to the president before receiving the award.
While the audience clapped, the 25-year-old athlete shook hands with President Buhari as they posed for the camera before she greeted him once again and left.
A fan wrote:
“Well trained, well dressed and award well deserving. She’s brought Nigeria glory.”
Another added:
“What is the different between what teni did and what tobi did.. Habi my eye dey pain me…. Are people looking for the knees on the ground.”
One said:
“Very respectful.”
