Nigeria’s queen of the track, Oluwatobiloba Amusan, has been nominated for the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year award.



Amusan hugged the headlines last year after a number of impressive feats at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, the United States of America, and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old set a new world record in the 100-meter hurdles at the World Athletics Championships.

The dark-skinned athlete also successfully defended her Commonwealth title in Birmingham.

Amusan capped a glorious year by also claiming the Diamond League title.

Tennis stars Elena Rybakina and Carlos Alcaraz are also nominated for the award.

The others are Scottie Scheffler, Nathan Wchen, and the Moroccan national team.
