Andre Onana, the club's summer acquisition, has come under fire from former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov for being overconfident during games this year.
In addition, Berbatov advised Onana to temper his arrogance a little after a rocky start to his Old Trafford career.
This comes after Manchester United's 3-2 loss to Galatasaray in their matchup in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
In an awful performance against the Turkish powerhouses, Onana added another error to his season's long list of mistakes.
Following a sloppy pass that ended up at Dries Mertens' feet, the Cameroonian international lost possession of the ball, earning Casemiro a red card.
“His confidence is causing him to make mistakes. You can see that from his body language against Galatasaray. Sometimes, he forgets that he’s playing smart players. Other players will be studying how Onana plays, and they will bait him into playing certain passes. That is exactly what happened against Galatasaray,” Berbatov told Betfair.
“He needs to maintain his confidence, but tone it down a bit and think more about who you are playing and how they are playing. I have watched Onana play before, and he has always been the same, and I like that.”
