In a recent episode of the 'Afrobeats Podcast,' renowned record producer ID Cabasa, also known as Olumide Ogunade, weighed in on the ongoing clash between emerging artists and legends within Nigeria's music scene.

The conflict sparked when Burna Boy asserted that no Nigerian artist had paved the way for his success, drawing criticism from veteran singer Eedris Abdulkareem.

This disagreement escalated into a heated social media debate, with rising rapper OdumoduBlvck and others supporting Burna Boy, while Jaywon and fellow veterans stood by Abdulkareem.

Cabasa emphasized the importance of mutual respect and understanding between new generation artists and established veterans for harmony in the industry. He stressed the need for emerging talents to honor the legacy of those who came before them, while veterans should uphold integrity in their interactions.

He said, “The new guys need to respect the OGs. The OGs need to be more honourable. You are not competing against these guys. If you see yourself as a competition to these guys, what you’ve done is that you’ve mortgaged your honour.”

The producer urged music legends to support young artists instead of “being too critical” of them.
