Rebecca Ikumelo, a 33-year-old Nigerian mother of two, has been pronounced dead after sustaining severe injuries during the stampede that occurred at singer Asake’s concert at the Brixton O2 Academy in London.

Late Ikumelo, who was very popular on Tiktok with videos she shared about her journey in taking care of her autistic son, died on Saturday in a hospital after being critically injured in the stampede.

Confirming the death of the concertgoer on his Instagram on Saturday, Asake said, “I am devastated by the news that Rebecca Ikumelo, who was in a critical condition since Thursday, has sadly passed away."
”My sincerest condolences go to her family and loved ones. Please, let’s keep her family in our prayers. I have spoken to them and will continue to do so. I am overwhelmed with grief and could never have imagined anything like this happening.
”My team and I are still awaiting the full debrief back from the venue management and the police to determine exactly what led to all the disruption and ultimately to Rebecca’s passing.

Recall that Asake was forced to end his sold-out performance at the O2 Academy Brixton on Thursday after a huge number of followers who did not have tickets attempted to force access to the venue.

According to a police report, eight people were transported to hospitals, while two more who suffered fewer injuries were attended to at the scene.
