President Bola Tinubu has provided assurance that the implementation of the student loan program is set to commence in January 2024.



The President shared this information during the presentation of the 2024 Appropriation Bill at a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja on Wednesday.

Presenting the budget, themed "Budget of Renewed Hope," President Tinubu emphasized its focus on achieving economic growth that generates employment opportunities. He highlighted the budget's commitment to addressing longstanding issues within the education sector, with a specific mention of the student loan program slated to kick off in January.

Commencing the presentation of the N27.5 trillion Appropriation Bill at 11:40 a.m., President Tinubu made a firm commitment that, upon passage, the government would initiate the implementation of the budget on January 1, 2024.

Notably, before President Tinubu's arrival at the National Assembly complex, there was a notable attendance of federal lawmakers at both the Senate and House of Representatives, indicating the significance and anticipation surrounding the budget presentation. The announcement of the student loan program adds a noteworthy dimension to the proposed budget, signaling a commitment to addressing crucial issues in the education sector and providing financial support to students.
