The Nigerian Police have arrested Odukaye Kunle, the man seen in a viral video violently assaulting his young son, Boluwatife, in the Oko Baale area of Ado-Odo Ota, Ogun State.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Assistant Commissioner of Police and Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in a statement shared on his X and Facebook accounts. He revealed that Kunle will be arraigned in court on Monday to face child abuse charges.

The shocking video, which sparked widespread outrage, shows Boluwatife dressed in his school uniform with a backpack on, attempting to speak to his father when he was aggressively kicked.

In response, the Ogun State Police Command swiftly intervened, ensuring the safety of the child and his mother. Adejobi stated that both will be taken to the Police Medical Centre in Ota for a thorough medical assessment and necessary care.

He further commended the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their prompt action in securing justice for Boluwatife.
