Ekiti State High Court Sentences Armed Robbers to Death

On Thursday, an Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti sentenced four men to death by hanging for their involvement in a robbery conspiracy. The condemned individuals, Ojo Tope (37), Aderopo Temitope (37), Oyedele Oluwatobi (27), and Damilola Christopher (30), were found guilty of armed robbery after being caught stealing valuables from unsuspecting victims at gunpoint.

The robbery took place on August 3, 2021, at Ilutitun Street, near Dammy Guest House in Ikere Ekiti, where the robbers stole laptops, phones, jewelry, sound systems, and a cash sum of N136,000. At the time of the crime, the robbers were armed with firearms.

Court Acquits Fifth Defendant in Armed Robbery Case

In a surprising twist, the court acquitted a fifth defendant, Ekundayo Ajiboye (29), after finding that there was no evidence linking him to the crime. The decision was made by Justice Lekan Olatawura during the court proceedings on April 16, 2024.

This ruling has sparked debate across the region, as the case continues to unfold in the public eye.
