Young Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar is set to join Chelsea following a successful trial with the Premier League giants.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on Friday night via X.
Romano reported, "18-year-old Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar is close to joining Chelsea after an impressive trial with the Academy. The club is finalizing a deal with Ojodu City Academy, considering whether to loan Hafiz to Strasbourg or integrate him directly into the Chelsea squad."
Raheem Sterling, Chelsea's winger, played a pivotal role in securing the trial for Umar, even engaging with the young talent via video call.
Umar, who has caught the attention of several top European clubs, showcased his scoring prowess by netting 10 goals in six games at the Viareggio Cup.
Standing at 6ft 2in, Umar currently plays for Ojodu City in Lagos State and previously had a trial stint with Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt. His potential move to Chelsea marks a significant step in his burgeoning career.
