Chelsea had the wide majority of chances in the first half, most notably Eden Hazard's deflected shot from distance striking the post

But Atletico went ahead against the run of play as David Luiz tugged down Lucas Hernandez while trying to defend a corner, and Antoine Griezmann scored from the resulting penalty in the 40th minute.

And it was nearly 2-0 before the break as Saul Niguez put a rebound inches wide after Thibaut Courtois could only parry Koke's long shot into the centre of the box.

However, Chelsea equalized in the minute when Morata got a touch with his head to turn in Eden Hazard's cross.

And just as it seemed they would settle for a point, Chelsea found a goal from an elaborate routine, as Tiemoue Bakayoko flicked the ball on to Marcos Alonso, and it fell to Batshuayi to net the winner.

In Group B, Paris Saint-Germain shrugged off a week full of controversy to level a resounding 3-0 defeat on Bayern Munich.

Goals from Neymar, Dani Alves and Edinson Cavani paced the Parisian side in an impressive display in Paris, giving Unai Emery's men a perfect start after two matches in the young campaign.

The hosts wasted little time in finding the opener. Neymar -- playing in his first big Champions League test since joining the club for a world record fee this summer -- cut in from the left, beat a number of defenders and laid off for an overlapping Dani Alves to fire underneath Bayern backup keeper Sven Ulreich with a lashed right-footed shot from an angle.

Bayern piled on the pressure in the ensuing minutes -- Thomas Muller and Javi Martinez getting good looks at goal -- but it was PSG who would find the second through Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguay striker, who was at the center of a controversial on-field spat with Neymar last week, made up for a previous wayward effort in the 31st minute, when he sweetly stroked home Kylian Mbappe's layoff with a first-time curler from outside the box.

Neymar got his goal just after the hour mark. Mbappe, after brilliantly ghosting inside a helpless David Alaba, slid his cross into the six-yard box, where the Brazilian was first to react after a botched clearance from a defender.

Celtic picked up their first three points with a 3-0 victory at Anderlecht in Group B's other match.

The Scottish champions found their breakthrough seven minutes before half-time -- Leigh Griffiths slamming home at the far post from a perfectly rolled Kieran Tierney cross across the goalmouth.

Celtic then received some good fortune for their second of the night. Anderlecht defender Kara attempted intervention of Patrick Roberts's low and hard shot from the left beating his own keeper at the near post.

Scott Sinclair capped the win in second-half stoppage time with a deft chip of goalkeeper Frank Boeckx after an Anderlecht turnover in their own half.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice and Anthony Martial also shone as Manchester United cruised to a 4-1 win away to CSKA Moscow to stay perfect in Group A.

Playing without Paul Pogba, United nevertheless needed just four minutes to find the opener as Romelu Lukaku leaped to head in Anthony Martial's header.

And Martial soon made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after Georgi Schennikov brought down Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Martial and Lukaku linked up again in the 27th minute, the Belgian tapping home after defender Vasili Berezutski failed to deal with Martial's hopeful ball into the box.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan got in on the fun in the 57th minute by running onto a rebound after Igor Akinfeev had done well to save Martial's shot, and only Konstantin Kuchaev's late consolation denied David De Gea a clean sheet.

Also in Group A, Basel's Dimitri Oberlin celebrated his 20th birthday in style with two goals and an assist to lead a 5-0 rout of Benfica.

Michael Lang put the hosts in front after just two minutes after Benfica keeper Julio Cesar came off his line to interrupt Oberlin's through ball. But Oberlin jumped on the loose ball and alertly passed across for Lang to slot home.

Oberlin then doubled the hosts' lead in the 20th minute on a remarable counter-attack that he started by heading away a corner to a teammate. He then raced the length of the pitch before receiving the ball back to score.

In the second half, Oberlin drew a penalty that Ricky van Wolfswinkel despatched to make it 3-0 on the hour mark, and it got worse for Benfica three minutes as Andre Almeida was sent off for a shocking two-footed challenge.

Oberlin then picked off a poor Benfica pass to score Basel's fourth, before Blas Riveros added a fifth when the ball came back to him after a fine run into the box.

Barcelona earned their second win to stay atop Group D, though they needed an own goal to sneak past Sporting Lisbon1-0.

Luis Suarez had the best chance to score in a quiet first half, putting a shot just wide after Lionel Messi had found Jordi Alba with a fine through ball.

Sporting were forced into an unusual change before half-time when Seydou Doumbia was booked for diving, then had to come off after picking up an injury in the process.

Barcelona's breakthrough came from a set piece in the 49th minute as Suarez's missed Messi's cross, but it hit defender Sebastian Coates behind him for an own goal.

Juventus also were forced to wait for a goal before Gonzalo Higuain came off the bench to find the net and provide a 2-0 win at home over Olympiakos.

Goalkeeper Silvio Proto frustrated Juve in the first half, making diving saves to deny Stefano Sturaro, Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala, while only the post prevented defender Bjorn Engels from putting a ball in his own net.

But Higauin finally found the net in the 69th minute, following up to slot home after his first shot in the box was blocked, after a good run on the wing by Alex Sandro.

And with 10 minutes to play, Mario Mandzukic made the lead comfortable, putting the ball in after his first shot was cleared off the line by a sliding defender.

Juventus earned their first points in the Group after their opening defeat to Barcelona, though they are still behind Sporting on goal difference.

Chelsea top Group C on goal difference above Roma, who scored a pair of early goals to better their poor Champions League away record with a 2-1 win over Qarabag in Azerbaijan.

The visitors took the lead after just seven minutes following a corner when Qarabag keeper Ibrahim Sehic punched away a corner directly to Lorenzo Pellegrini, who volleyed it back into the six-yard box for Kostas Manolas to head home.

And eight minutes later Edin Dzeko brought down a high Stephan El Shaarawy lob and fired under the bar to double Roma's lead.

Qarabag got one back in the 28th minute when Dino Ndlovu dispossed Maxime Gonalons and fed Pedro Henrique to score the first group-stage goal for any club from Azerbaijan.

But Roma held on to win their first game away from home in the competition since 2009.
