Tragic news has struck the golf world as Grayson Murray, a celebrated US golfer, has passed away at the age of 30.
The announcement was made by the PGA Tour following Murray's withdrawal from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday due to illness, after completing 16 holes in his second round.
"We are devastated and heartbroken to share that Grayson Murray passed away this morning," stated PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan on Saturday. "I am at a loss for words. The PGA Tour is a family, and losing a member of our family is profoundly painful. We mourn Grayson and extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones."
Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner and rising star in the golf community, had achieved three significant victories early in his career. The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed. In response to this heartbreaking event, the PGA Tour has made grief counselors available for players at the ongoing event.
