The Abia State government has uncovered a clandestine tunnel used by kidnappers to conceal their victims in Lokpanta, situated in the Umunneochi council area of the state.

Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, revealed that the discovery of this sinister tunnel was made possible by the Operation Crush security team during their raid in the area.

The hidden passage came to light as the state government, led by Governor Alex Otti, deployed earth-moving equipment to clear the region after the criminal cartel succumbed to the superior firepower of the government-backed Operation Crush.

Ekeoma emphasized the government's unwavering commitment, stating, "We will not surrender an inch of our territory to criminals." Governor Otti, during the launch of the Abia State Joint Security Task Force (Operation Crush), had specifically instructed security agencies to ensure the apprehension of all criminals, particularly kidnappers causing distress in Umunneochi and other parts of the state. The directive also included the destruction of their criminal infrastructure and architecture.

This discovery marks a significant stride in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety and security of the residents of Abia State. The government's proactive approach, coupled with the determination of Operation Crush, reinforces the commitment to root out criminal elements and maintain peace and order in the region.
