Kingsley Obiora, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has reportedly been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).
His arrest followed claims of financial mismanagement by suspended CBN governor Godwin Emefiele, according to a Business Day report.
The Apex Bank's Deputy Governor in charge of economic policy is Obiora.
His arrest follows a probe into CBN, which is being overseen by Godwin Emefiele, that is still ongoing.
Emefiele has been in the DSS's custody since June 10, 2023, the day after President Bola Tinubu removed him from office, according to The Daily Post.
In July, Tinubu appointed a special investigator, Jim Obazee, to oversee the probe of the activities of the apex bank under Emefiele.
DSS and CBN spokespersons, Dr. Peter Afunanya and Dr. Isa Abdulmumin, respectively, have yet to respond to the Daily Post’s inquiry.
