A tragic incident has rocked Kwara State as Yetunde Lawal, a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, has been found murdered after going missing.
Suspect Arrested in Connection to Yetunde Lawal’s Death
Reports indicate that Yetunde disappeared on Monday, February 10, 2025, after attending a naming ceremony. Witnesses say she received a phone call, left her food behind, and exited the event—never to be seen alive again.
Her father, Ibrahim Lawal, filed a missing person report at the Oja-Oba Police Division the following day. Police immediately swung into action, tracking her last phone call to a suspect residing in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin. The suspect, said to be the son of a prominent Muslim cleric in the Isalekoto community, was swiftly taken into custody.
Initially denying any involvement, the suspect later confessed that Yetunde had visited him and allegedly died from an asthma attack. However, a horrifying discovery was made when authorities searched his home—Yetunde’s dismembered body was found hidden in a bowl, along with tools used to cut her up.
Suspect’s Sinister Activities Uncovered
Further investigations revealed that the suspect had met Yetunde on Facebook, where he obtained her contact and lured her to his home. Disturbingly, evidence found in his residence suggests that this may not have been his first gruesome act. A table in his room appeared to be equipped with tools specifically for dismembering bodies.
