Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested Linus Williams, popularly known as BLord, in Abuja on Tuesday.
The crypto billionaire faces allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism funding, and aiding internet fraud, among other charges against his companies.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, confirmed the arrest in an interview, stating that it followed numerous complaints against BLord's businesses. "Yes, we have him with us. The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology," Adejobi said.
The offences being investigated include cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks. Adejobi emphasized the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to conduct a thorough investigation. "We will do due diligence in our investigation. Our cyberspace must be safe and secure by all means. We are committed to achieving that," he added.
Adejobi also clarified that the petition leading to BLord’s arrest was not filed by Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, dismissing any connection between the two cases.
