The Police Force Lagos State Command has apprehended Olaseinde Ojo, a suspected armed robber and kidnapper, at Post Office Isokoko.
Ojo, who allegedly masquerades as a lunatic to approach his victims, stands accused of robbing or kidnapping them.
This information was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released on Thursday, March 14. Additionally, another arrest was made along Dolphin Bridge, where police operatives intercepted a dispatch rider identified as Samson Shina 'm', in possession of a locally made pistol and charms.
In part, the statement reads:
"The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have once again demonstrated their commitment to combating crime across the country. It is imperative for us, as the primary security agency, to keep the public informed about our efforts to address the menace of criminal activities in our society and to educate Nigerians on the various tactics employed by criminals."
Adejobi further stated:
"Our operatives in Lagos State and FCT Command have intensified their operational strategies and successfully apprehended several individuals involved in heinous crimes. Among them is Olaseinde Ojo, a suspected armed robber and kidnapper, who was arrested at Post Office, Isokoko. Ojo allegedly adopts the guise of a lunatic to approach his victims and carry out his criminal activities."
He continued:
"In a separate incident, operatives of the FCT command, during a stop-and-search operation around Taxi Park area, Abuja, intercepted a motorcycle carrying three passengers, including one Usman Musa 'm'. Upon searching, a locally fabricated Beretta pistol with 11 rounds of live ammunition was discovered in their possession. Further search in their premises led to the recovery of $5,800 in fake dollar notes and other incriminating items."
With the recent surge in crime-related concerns, the Nigeria Police emphasizes the importance of citizens remaining vigilant and prioritizing their security. Proactive measures, such as being aware of one's surroundings, especially in unfamiliar areas, and avoiding isolated or poorly lit places, particularly at night, are crucial for personal safety.
