According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, or FRSC, no fewer than 25 people perished in various traffic accidents in the states of Osun, Oyo, and Ondo in February 2023.

This information was provided by Kolawole Alabi, the Zonal Public Education Officer, in a statement made on Wednesday in Osogbo on behalf of Jatau Meshach, the Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) in charge of the three states.

He said: “We recorded 25 deaths in the month of February in 60 different road accidents involving 308 passengers." However, 140 passengers got injured while 143 others sustained no injuries.
Continuing, he said further: “The zone arrested 2,109 road violators in 2,374 traffic offenses, and we were able to educate 1,809 persons on road traffic regulations.”

While noting that 3,995 driver’s licenses were issued to road users in the zone in February 2023, Meshach cautioned motorists in the zone against dangerous driving that might lead to loss of life.
