In a fatal incident at the University of Ilorin's (UNILORIN) main gate, several lives were tragically lost when an overcrowded campus shuttle, known as "Korope," was involved in a fatal crash on Thursday Afternoon.

The driver of the shuttle sustained minor injuries.

The accident occurred as students were returning home after their exams. Eyewitnesses report that the shuttle, designed to carry 7 passengers, was overcrowded with 10 people on board. This devastating crash underscores the urgent need for improved safety measures in campus transportation.

A 31-second video obtained from the scene provides a graphic and disturbing glimpse into the aftermath of the accident, highlighting the severity of the tragedy.

Efforts to reach the university's Counseling and Advisory Unit (CAU) for more information have been unsuccessful as of press time. The university community is in mourning, with many expressing their grief and shock over the tragic loss of young lives.

This incident is not an isolated one, as similar accidents have occurred at the UNILORIN main gate in the past, raising serious concerns about recurring safety issues. The entire university community, along with concerned citizens, is calling for immediate action to prevent further tragedies.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time. May God protect us all from such heartbreaking events.
