Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has refuted allegations of defamation against prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN.

In a video shared on his Instagram account, Verydarkman expressed his admiration for Falana, whom he described as his uncle, and stressed that he holds him in high regard.

This development follows a legal threat issued by Nigerian rapper Falz on Wednesday. The rapper, along with his father, Femi Falana, was accused by Verydarkman of being involved in a voice recording linked to a controversial bribery scandal involving crossdresser Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Responding to the situation, Verydarkman's lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, clarified that his client merely questioned the credibility of Bobrisky’s claims in the leaked audio and had no intention of defaming Femi Falana. Adeyanju stated, “Our client denies defaming Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, a renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria and globally recognized human rights activist. He only published the said communication to prompt relevant agencies, and even your client, to investigate the serious allegations made by Mr. Okuneye in the voice recording, especially as some elements of the recording have been confirmed by Mr. Folarin Falana in his solicitor’s letter dated September 25, 2024.”

Adeyanju further emphasized that the focus should be on investigating the accusations Bobrisky allegedly made against certain EFCC officers, rather than pursuing a defamation lawsuit.

The controversy has sparked significant discussions online, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover the truth behind the allegations.
