Following the departure of Andres Iniesta from Camp Nou to Vissel Kobe, the Argentine playmaker, Lionel Messi has officially assumed the captaincy position of Barcelona.
Though Messi has been wearing Argentina's team armband for a while and has been one of the assistant captains of the team since 2015 and has captained the team several times in the absence of Iniesta but will now be leading the team on a permanent basis now.
Also Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto also named as the four-man leadership team, with the quartet all having come through La Masia before graduating to the first-team.
The newly named captained and five times ballon D'or winner will be hopeful of lifting his first trophy as captain on Sunday as Ernesto Valverde's side take on Sevilla in the Spanish Supercopa.
