The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has celebrated Morocco’s historic feat at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Atlas Lions made history as the first African nation to reach the World Cup semi-finals after a remarkable 1-0 victory against Portugal at the Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, on Saturday afternoon.
Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri netted the winning goal for the North Africans three minutes before the break.
CAF took to social media to eulogize the North Africans on the win.
Morocco became the first African side to reach the #FIFA World Cup semi-finals! What an achievement by the Atlas Lions! "@En Maroc,” the continent’s soccer governing body tweeted.
Morocco will play the winner of the quarterfinal fixture between England and France in the semi-final.
