In a surprising twist, Borussia Dortmund might find themselves in a financial conundrum if they emerge victorious against Real Madrid in this season's Champions League final.

This unexpected scenario stems from the terms of Jude Bellingham's transfer deal to Madrid last year, as revealed by Rhur Nachrichten.

The agreement between the two clubs includes clauses tied to Bellingham's performance in the Champions League. Should the talented midfielder help Madrid secure the European Cup, it would trigger an additional payment of £4.3 million to Dortmund.

Furthermore, if Bellingham lands a spot in the prestigious Champions League Team of the Season, Dortmund stands to receive another £1.7 million.

The irony lies in the fact that the financial incentives linked to Bellingham's success with Madrid could potentially leave Dortmund with a smaller payout than if they were runners-up.

While the losing finalist typically earns £12.9 million in prize money, Dortmund could see a total of £19.3 million with the bonuses for Bellingham included. However, if Dortmund claims victory in the final showdown, the prize money alone would amount to £17.2 million.

In essence, Dortmund faces a unique situation where triumph on the field may not necessarily translate to financial gain due to the intricacies of player transfer agreements and tournament bonuses.
