After losing to Napoli on Wednesday in the Champions League, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp criticized his team, calling it the "worst" performance of his time in charge.
If not for Victor Osimhen's missed penalty, which summed up the Reds' lackluster start to the season, Klopp's team would have been destroyed 4-1 in Napoli.
Though the German boss suffered some heavy defeats during the early days of his reign at Anfield, he recognised the defeat in Naples as all the more surprising.
“It was a real horror show. It was the worst game we played since I have been here. Some will point at games against Aston Villa, for example,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.
“But in those games, there were glimpses of us, but in this one there was nothing. We have to understand why."
“We met with the players. I watched the Napoli game a lot and we saw horrors. The players knew as well."
“Eight out of the eleven were below the level that they normally play.”
