According to the UK Metro, Chelsea will fulfill Graham Potter's £16 million release clause in order to acquire him from Brighton.
One of the front-runners to succeed Thomas Tuchel as manager at Stamford Bridge is Potter.
Brighton reportedly gave Chelsea permission to speak with their head coach.
However, due to a release clause in his agreement with the Seagulls, Potter could be acquired for £16 million.
Following a poor start to the season, Tuchel was fired on Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday night, the Blues suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Brighton are currently in fourth position in the league table, one place ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League.
Potter has been in charge of Brighton since May 2019 and has won a lot of plaudits for the style of play he has implemented and the clear improvement in the team under his stewardship.
