Manchester United had promised Jadon Sancho the No.
7 shirt before reneging on that promise as the player joined the Premier League club.
Sancho completed a £72 million move to Old Trafford in 2021 after the Red Devils spent two years chasing him. He took the No. 25 shirt when he arrived, but the move had complications from the start, with United failing to come good on their promises to Sancho.
According to the Athletic, Sancho was assured he would get the No. 7 shirt in a bid to convince him to join the club.
However, after failing to get his move in 2020, it was given to Edinson Cavani by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Sancho then watched on as United took the No. 7 shirt off Cavani and gave it to Cristiano Ronaldo later that summer.
