The newly signed Chelsea forward Joao Felix’s debut ended in a embarrassing way on Thursday evening, as the forward was sent off in the second half of Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Fulham.
Graham Potter gave the 23-year-old a start for the trip to Craven Cottage despite the fact that he only signed a loan deal from Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Throughout the first half, Felix displayed numerous touches of class and managed to take six shots at Bernd Leno.
However, shortly after Denis Zakaria was forced off with an injury, Felix’s debut was cut short when referee David Coote gave him a straight red for a dangerous tackle on Kenny Tete. Carlos Vinicius headed his first Fulham goal in the 73rd minute as Fulham went on to win the game.
Felix, who has only played one game for Chelsea, will now miss the next three Premier League games, according to Premier League rules. Felix’s challenge was classified as a dangerous tackle, and he will be suspended for three games.
