Newcastle legend, Alan Shearer has named Ethan Nwaneri as the best player on the pitch during Arsenal’s Premier League 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Saturday.

Nwaneri caused Leicester’s defence problems throughout the encounter at the King Power Stadium.

The 17-year-old also gave Mikel Merino an assist in the 81st-minute with an exquisite cross from the right.

Speaking about Nwaneri’s display against the Foxes on Match of the Day, Shearer said the winger is a potential superstar, adding that he was so lively during the encounter.

“17 years of age… a potential superstar. He was, without doubt, the bright spark for Arsenal,” Shearer said.
“Even when things were not going for them, which were large parts of the game, he was the one that was probing, he was the one putting crosses in and having pops at goal.
“Again, he gets the ball and works it onto his left foot. This time he cuts inside and has a pop at goal but hits the crossbar.
“But he can and does also like to down that right-hand side. If you show him too much room, if you invite him to go down there then that’s fine, he will do that as well.
“He was the best player on the pitch today, so lively.”
