Victor Osimhen entered the history books as the first Napoli player to score in six straight Serie A games since Gonzalo Higuain following his second-half strike against Cremonese on Sunday night.

Former Argentine hitman Higuain achieved the feat in the 2015-16 season.

Osimhen converted from close range as Napoli thrashed 3-0 at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona to extend their lead at the top of log to 16 points.

No player in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more in 2023 than the red-hot striker.

The Nigerian international has scored eight goals in his last six Serie A games.

The 24-year-old is currently the top scorer in Serie A with 17 goals in 18 appearances.
