After a 2-1 win over Sierra Leone on Thursday night, Joe Aribo believes that the Super Eagles can only get better under new head coach Jose Peseiro.
The Super Eagles controlled the game, although they were occasionally hampered by the poor playing surface at Abuja's Moshood Abiola Stadium.
Despite their dominance, the Super Eagles looked wobbly at the back at times, and Francis Uzoho had to make a spectacular stop to keep the Leone Stars from taking a two-goal lead early on.
After defeats to Mexico and Ecuador, this was the Super Eagles' first win under Peseiro.
Despite the tense nature of the win, Aribo is optimistic that the Super Eagles will improve as the season progresses.
It’s important to win our first game of the qualifiers. We can play better, we will continue to improve, and we will get better, "the Rangers midfielder told reporters after the game.
“We are working with the new manager and following his philosophy,” he added.
The Super Eagles will now shift attention to Monday’s matchday two encounter against Sao Tome and Principe.
