Popular Nigerian actor Sanusi Izihaq, professionally known as Apa, has opened up about the struggles he faced in Nollywood and why he almost quit the industry.
During an interview with actress Biola Bayo on the Talk to B Podcast, Apa credited fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta for helping him stay in the industry when he was on the verge of giving up.
"Big shoutout to Ibrahim Chatta. If not for him, I would have left Nollywood. I remember a director who had never met me before but had only heard about me. He vowed to deal with me for no reason. I was eager to work with him, but things got really tense, and I couldn’t handle the toxic environment. I got emotional and started crying," Apa revealed.
He further shared that Ibrahim Chatta had found him in tears on multiple occasions and always encouraged him to stay.
"I have left filmmaking about three times, but each time, Ibrahim Chatta called me back and gave me roles in his projects to ensure I didn’t leave."
Despite the challenges, Apa remains dedicated to Nollywood, all thanks to the unwavering support of Ibrahim Chatta.
