Grammy-nominated afrobeat artiste, Seun Kuti, has slammed former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, over his letter to the United Kingdom court that found former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife guilty of organ trafficking.
Naijacrawl reported that the former president, in a letter dated April 3 and addressed to the Chief Clerk of the Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, London, pleaded with the UK court to temper justice with mercy over the conviction of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice.
Reacting, Seun Kuti berated the former head of state for not extending a similar gesture to young Nigerians in prisons.
He spoke during an Instagram live session on Thursday.
He said: “Obasanjo did not write [a] letter on behalf of the many young Nigerians in prison, even for non-violent crimes, but he wrote a letter for Ike Ekweremadu, who wanted to harvest another person’s organ and destroy another person’s life for his daughter.”
