Comedian Anita Afoke Asuoha, widely known as Warri Pikin, has opened up about her personal struggle with suicidal thoughts following a financial crisis in 2018.
In a heartfelt post shared in commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day, she revealed that she nearly ended her life after her family fell into a N22 million debt due to poor business decisions influenced by a motivational speaker.
Warri Pikin recounted how the immense financial burden became unbearable, leading her to attempt suicide on June 6, 2018, at 3 p.m. She described the overwhelming pressure, stating, “Life has struck me in the left, right, and center, and it has flipped me around like a barber chair.”
Fortunately, a woman named Irene C. Anaenye intervened and saved her life, bringing her to Garki Hospital on that fateful day. In her post, Warri Pikin shared photos with Irene, expressing her gratitude for the role she played in preventing the tragedy.
Warri Pikin used her story to encourage others facing similar struggles to seek help and reminded them that “suicide is making a permanent decision to a temporary problem.”
