The government of Adamawa State and the state Command of the Nigeria Police have launched investigation into the alleged torture of a secondary school boy.



The boy, Jaafar Bashiru, a student of Aliyu Mustafa Academy, Jimeta, was inflicted with injuries allegedly by one of his teachers for eating mango in the school premises.

The father of the victim, Bashiru Haman told newsmen Saturday that he visited the school to confirm online payment of his son’s school fees and coincidentally met his son being flogged.

The Adamawa State Police command said it has commenced investigation into the alledged torture.

The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, who frowned at the incident, directed Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation to take over the case.

The police boss, appealing for calm, assured that the matter would be duly investigated and justice allowed to take its course.

On the side of the state government,

the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajiya Aisha Umar confirmed the receipt of a complaint letter from the student’s parents.

She said the ministry would pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.
