A 39-year-old Dolapo Babalola, a fruit seller, has confessed to the police about his involvement in a string of horrifying murders.
His revelations shed light on a dark underworld of ritual killings and sinister practices.
Babalola, alongside his herbalist accomplices and other criminal suspects, was apprehended and paraded at the state police headquarters in Akure, the bustling capital of the state. The apprehension of these suspects marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime in the region.
According to Babalola's disturbing confession, he would brutally murder his victims, particularly if they recognized him, by dragging them along with their motorcycles. He admitted to cutting parts of their bodies for ritual purposes, plunging the community into a state of fear and disbelief.
The extent of Babalola's crimes is staggering. He confessed to killing his intimate friend and snatching his motorcycle in Oke-Igbo, as well as confessing to the gruesome murders of five individuals, including his own cousin. His modus operandi was ruthless and calculated, demonstrating a chilling disregard for human life.
Recalling the harrowing details of his crimes, Babalola revealed, "Whenever they recognized me, I would drag and kill them, taking parts of their bodies for rituals." His confession sends shivers down the spine, highlighting the depths of depravity to which he sank in pursuit of his dark objectives.
Equally disturbing is the testimony of another suspect, Quadri Lawal, who admitted to decapitating one of his victims and splitting the head into two parts. One part was intended for his accomplice, while the other was kept for ritual purposes, underscoring the barbarity of their actions.
The suspects will be charged after the conclusion of investigation.
