In the early morning hours of Sunday, a distressing incident unfolded along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, resulting in no fewer than 13 passengers sustaining injuries of varying degrees.



The location of the road crash was near Car Park C in Ogun State, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) swiftly confirmed the occurrence, noting that it transpired around 4:55 am.

Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the FRSC in Ogun State, reported that the agency's operatives promptly responded to the scene, initiating rescue operations to attend to those affected by the crash. A total of 22 individuals were involved in the incident, comprising 21 male adults and one female adult. Fortunately, Okpe stated that there were no reported fatalities, with all 13 injured individuals receiving medical attention.

The vehicles involved in the crash included three trucks with the number plates KBT205XB, KJA230Y, and DUT35XE, along with a Toyota Corolla car registered as MUS793HM and a Toyota Hiace bus marked FG369-F20.

According to Okpe, the suspected causes of the crash were identified as road obstruction and speeding, leading to a loss of control over the vehicles. Investigations into the specifics of the incident are underway as authorities work to ascertain the sequence of events that led to this unfortunate collision.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for motorists to exercise caution, particularly in the early hours when visibility may be limited.
