A shocking incident has shaken the quiet community of Eziezekwe village in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A middle-aged man reportedly set his wife, Chioma Nwana, ablaze following a domestic dispute on Tuesday evening. The horrific event has left the community in disbelief and mourning.
Reports reveal that the altercation between the couple stemmed from accusations of infidelity. The husband, whose name remains undisclosed, confronted Chioma upon her return from an outing, accusing her of being unfaithful. Eyewitnesses say the argument escalated into violence, culminating in the husband allegedly dousing her with petrol and setting her on fire.
A local source, speaking under anonymity, described the tragic sequence: “The argument got out of hand, and in a fit of rage, he poured petrol on her and lit the fire.”
Chioma, a mother of six, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning, just hours after the brutal attack.
This heartbreaking incident has not only devastated Chioma’s family but has also left the entire village reeling. Authorities are yet to disclose further details regarding the husband’s whereabouts or any ongoing investigations.
The tragedy highlights the growing need for awareness around domestic violence and the importance of addressing disputes without resorting to violence.
