In a heartbreaking turn of events, a yet-to-be-identified male adult met his untimely demise after being struck by a falling electric cable drum along Ojo-Igbede Road in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.




The tragic incident, which occurred on Thursday, has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting an immediate response from authorities. Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the unfortunate event, highlighting that the victim's body has been transferred to the morgue pending further investigation.


Hundeyin stated, "The corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy and preservation. An investigation is ongoing."


According to reports, the incident transpired while a forklift was in the process of lifting armoured cable drums. Tragically, one of the cable drums disconnected and fell onto a passerby who was reportedly engrossed in his phone while walking. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries en route.


The scene was swiftly attended to by detectives from the Ilemba-Hausa division, who initiated inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the accident.


This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in everyday surroundings and the importance of vigilance and caution. As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of a fellow member, while authorities work diligently to uncover the truth behind this tragic accident.
