In a bold directive, the Nigerian Army has called on troops under Operation Fansan Yamma to take decisive action against the Lakurawa sect, ordering their complete eradication or expulsion from the country.
The directive was issued by Major General Oluyinka Soleye, commander of the Joint Task Force Northwest, during his visit to the troops' headquarters in Balle, located in Gudu Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
Addressing the soldiers, General Soleye delivered an inspiring message, urging them to remain steadfast in their mission. He assured the troops of the Nigerian Armyâs full support, emphasizing the significance of their efforts in restoring peace to the region. âYour resolve is critical to the success of this operation. We stand fully behind you. It is essential to either eliminate the Lakurawa sect or ensure they can no longer operate within our borders,â General Soleye stated with firm resolve.
The generalâs visit served a dual purpose: to motivate the troops and to evaluate the operational progress and challenges encountered in the field.
He expressed gratitude for their unwavering commitment and praised their role in the ongoing battle against armed groups that threaten regional stability.
Local authorities echoed the generalâs sentiments. Buhari Kurdula, Chairman of Gudu Local Government, commended the military's dedication to improving security in the area.
Speaking to reporters, he highlighted the growing threat posed by the Lakurawa sect, which has been active in the region for the past eight years. Their activities have intensified over the last year, raising alarm among local communities.
This intensified military effort reflects the Nigerian Army's resolve to neutralize threats and restore stability to the region, ensuring safety for residents and a brighter future for Sokoto State.
