A resident of Kajola Village near Apomu in Osun State, Lukman Adejoju, has been apprehended by the police for the alleged murder of his mother, Aminat, who was reportedly around 100 years old.
The dispute arose over the proceeds from the sale of palm oil.
According to sources within the village who wished to remain anonymous, the incident unfolded around 4:00 pm on a Saturday as the suspect and the deceased were on their way to the farm. It was during this journey that the altercation occurred.
One villager, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the dispute arose between Lukman and his mother regarding the payment they were owed by a laborer who had assisted them in selling palm oil. Apparently, the disagreement escalated when the deceased insisted that the money should be paid to her directly.
Another villager, identified simply as Rasaki, shared that Lukman and his mother had employed the laborer to assist in selling some kegs of palm oil. However, when it came time to receive payment, a disagreement ensued over who should collect the proceeds, leading to a tragic outcome.
