Delta State Governor, Rt.
Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to inaugurate the tallest Christmas tree in Africa on Monday, December in Asaba, standing at an impressive height of 123 feet. This monumental event is a highlight of the ongoing Christmas In Delta, a 45-day festive extravaganza that commenced on Friday, December 1.
The grand unveiling of the towering Christmas tree is part of a series of carefully planned events by the organizers to deliver an unparalleled Christmas experience for Deltans and visitors alike. Dr (Mrs.) Josephine Odunze, the Executive Assistant (EA) to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, emphasized the significance of this initiative, aligning it with Governor Oborevwori's vision to create a festive atmosphere that truly captures the spirit of the 'Big Heart' state.
During an inspection tour of the projects, Odunze highlighted the unique positioning of the Christmas tree, stating, "We cannot be selling Delta to Deltans by positioning the tree in town. We should be marketing Delta to outsiders. It is happening here in Delta State; 45 days of endless fun." She commended the governor and the event organizers for their commitment to providing unforgettable Christmas experiences.
Fred Onojeta, a member of the organizing committee, expressed admiration for the boldness of the initiative, which seeks to showcase the state's tourism potential. He commended the Oborevwori administration for fostering an enabling environment for such ambitious projects to thrive. "When the team put this event together tagged 'Christmas in Delta: 45 Days of Fond Memories served daily,' it was audacious to put the tallest Christmas tree in Africa here in Asaba. We thought it was impossible," he remarked.
In addition to the grand Christmas tree, the EA, Josephine Odunze, explored other sites that promise to enhance the Christmas experience, including the Floating Bar and Water Park at Grand Hotel Asaba and various facilities located at the Maryam Babangida Leisure Park and Film Village, Asaba. As Delta State lights up the tallest Christmas tree in Africa, it invites everyone to partake in 45 days of joyous celebrations and create cherished memories throughout the holiday season.
