At least two people have tragically lost their lives following a devastating tanker explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday near Gabster Mega Petrol Station, Orita Challenge, in the Oluyole Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that the tanker driver and his assistant were trapped in the fiery blast and burned beyond recognition.

Confirming the incident, Moroof Akinwande, Special Adviser on Fire Services Reform to Governor Seyi Makinde and Chairman of the State Fire Services Agency, stated: “We received the distress call at 5:15 am and immediately responded. The situation is now under control.”

The explosion, which erupted around 5:00 am, sent flames raging through the area, causing widespread destruction and panic among residents. Emergency responders swiftly intervened to contain the inferno, preventing further casualties and damage.
