After the second legs of the playoff ties on Tuesday, the five countries that will represent Africa at the 2022 World Cup were confirmed.

Ghana advanced to the knockout stages after a 1-1 draw with Nigeria in Abuja.

The Black Stars were able to do so because of the away goal rule after the first leg in Kumasi ended 0-0.

Senegal defeated Egypt on penalties after winning 1-0 in Dakar. After 120 minutes, the game was tied 1-1 on aggregate.

Tunisia will also be in Qatar after a goalless draw with Mali in Tunis. The Carthage Eagles had a 1-0 lead after the first leg.

Morocco is another country from North Africa that will compete in the event. The Atlas Lions thrashed the Democratic Republic of Congo 4-1 on Tuesday to qualify with a 5-2 overall record.

Cameroon is the last side from the continent to qualify, having won 2-1 against Algeria in Algiers to qualify on away goals.
