PSV manager Roger Schmidt has stated that Ajax will continue to play football despite Erik ten Hag's decision to join Manchester United in England.

Hag, 52, is in advanced negotiations with United's leadership to become the club's new permanent manager.

PSV and Ajax, the two fiercest rivals in the Eredivisie, are battling for the league and cup this season, with the former four points behind the latter in the standings.

Schmidt is convinced that Ajax will be able to recover from the loss of Ten Hag to Manchester United.

Schmidt will step down as PSV manager in the summer and will be replaced by Ruud Van Nistelrooy, a former Manchester United player.

“It always continues in football. "It's not (about) one player or one coach stopping working at one club,” he said, according to talkSPORT.
“In Barcelona, (Lionel) Messi stopped one day and everyone saw they didn’t stop playing football. Now he’s at another club.
“For Ajax, if he (Ten Hag) really leaves, they will find a very good coach because it’s a great club.”
