Dirk Kuyt, a former Liverpool forward, believes his compatriot Erik ten Hag will be successful at Manchester United if he is appointed as the club's next permanent manager.
Manchester United are on the lookout for a new manager to succeed interim manager Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.
The Red Devils had already interviewed Ten Hag for the post, and the Ajax coach was one of the frontrunners for the job, along with Mauricio Pochettino of Paris Saint-Germain.
Kuyt, on the other hand, has backed Ten Hag for the Man United post, claiming that the 52-year-old is capable of doing a "fantastic job" at any big European club.
"Ten Hag is a wonderful, experienced coach," Kuyt said of Ten Hag, who has attracted interest from Man United. He began his career with Bayern Munich's second team, then moved on to Utrecht, and finally to Ajax.
He's a fantastic manager who has grown tremendously both on and off the field. " Some people questioned his command of the English language and his ability to perform in front of the camera, but you can see him improving as a manager every week, and I believe he can succeed at any top club in Europe.
