The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has fixed December 1 as the kickoff date for the 2022–23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The IMC, the Daily Post learned, has also adopted an abridged format for the new season.
The season will end in May 2023 to enable the Nigerian football calendar to align with that of Europe and the rest of the world.
The IMC is also working around the clock to ensure that NPFL matches will be broadcast live on television.
The body met top officials of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Abuja on Wednesday to discuss modalities on how to transmit the matches live.
Rivers United won the NPFL title last season, with Plateau United coming in second.
Both teams are currently campaigning in the CAF Confederations Cup.
