In a surprising turn of events, former Real Madrid star Ruud van Nistelrooy has expressed his bewilderment over Toni Kroos' decision to retire from professional football.

The veteran German midfielder, who will play his final club game in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund this Saturday, announced his plans to hang up his boots after Euro 2024.

Despite being only 34 and still in top form, Kroos has decided to call it quits. Van Nistelrooy, who donned the Real Madrid jersey from 2006 to 2010, told Marca, "I don’t understand Kroos retiring; it’s impossible for me. It can’t be… but hey, Real Madrid have a great team for the future, now also Mbappe is coming."

Kroos, who joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014 for €25 million, has had a remarkable career with Los Blancos, securing 21 titles. His impending retirement has left fans and former teammates alike scratching their heads. As he prepares to help Germany in Euro 2024, hosted in his home country, the football world is gearing up to bid farewell to one of the sport's finest midfielders.
